Dear ACHS Families,
We are reaching out to ask for your partnership as we work together to address a growing concern in our school and community: an increase in incidents involving student vaping on school grounds.
Our primary goal is to ensure a safe, healthy learning environment for all students. As part of this effort, our building is equipped with vape detection systems. Despite these measures, we continue to experience vaping-related incidents, and we need your support in helping students make safe and healthy choices.
Please take a moment to speak with your student about the risks and consequences of vaping — especially the dangers associated with THC and other substances that are sometimes found in vape devices. Many students are unaware of the health impacts or the serious consequences that can result from bringing these items to school.
As outlined in the ACHS Code of Conduct:
Vaping or possessing vape devices on school grounds will result in school-based disciplinary actions.
THC vapes are treated as drug-related offenses and carry more serious consequences, including the possibility of alternative school placement or expulsion for repeated violations.
We ask that you be aware of what your student has in their possession and talk with them about the importance of making responsible decisions. Your involvement makes a significant difference, and together, we can reinforce a strong message about health, safety, and accountability.
Additional ways to support your student’s success:
Encourage daily, on-time attendance
Remind them to get to class promptly and prepared
Help ensure they arrive in full uniform
Reinforce the importance of a respectful, distraction-free environment
Please remind students that phones must be stored in the classroom phone boxes during class. Headphones, earbuds, and communication devices like smartwatches should not be visible during instruction periods.
We appreciate your continued support in reinforcing these expectations at home.
After-School Activity Bus
We now offer an activity bus on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays to support student involvement in tutoring, clubs, and athletics. Please review the hub stop locations, as they differ from regular bus routes.
