October 6  Café con el Sr. Rodríguez y la Sra. Whyte

On October 6 at 9:00 AM, parents are invited to join Sr. Rodriguez and Mrs. Whyte for coffee and conversation. This is a great opportunity to connect with school leadership and discuss ideas, questions, and concerns. 

October 7  Student Assessment

Students in grades 9–11 will participate in state testing (PSAT and SAT) on October 7. A practice run will be held on October 2. Students must arrive with a fully charged Chromebook and charger. Seniors will participate in a Day of Service on October 7; those who have not completed community service hours must attend school and will be marked unexcused if absent. In addition, students recently completed STAR Renaissance screeners in Math and ELA. These assessments guide instruction, identify intervention needs, and measure proficiency. The next testing window will take place in the winter.

October 6-17  School Spirit

October is full of school spirit! Spirit Week begins on October 6 in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Details will be shared separately. Students not participating are expected to be in uniform. Student Council will sell tickets for Spirit Week events between October 6 and 17. 

October 10  No school for students.

There will be no school for students on October 10 for a statewide professional development day. 

October 13  Picture Day 

Picture Day will take place on October 13, with students required to wear their uniforms. Photos will be used for IDs, the yearbook, and will also be available for purchase.

October 24  Movie Night

On October 24, we will host a movie night featuring A Quiet Place on the ACHS turf field at 6:30 PM or immediately following the Varsity Girls Volleyball Game. Tickets are $5. 

October 25 Homecoming

Homecoming will be held on October 25 in the ACHS gym from 7–10 PM. Tickets are $20 per person, with a $25 bundle option for both Movie Night and Homecoming. Guest forms will be available on October 1 and must be approved before purchase. Please note that students who do not meet behavior, academic, or attendance expectations will not be permitted to attend. 

Counselors Corner: Mrs. Torres and Mr. Shane are currently meeting with seniors to discuss post-secondary options. In November, Launch into Your Future Month will provide opportunities for students to apply to many colleges for free.

Additionally, on October 28 at 2:30 PM, students are invited to join a Día de los Muertos–themed Healing Through the Arts workshop in the Art Room. This creative and stress-free event will be limited to 20 students, with sign-ups available in the Counseling Office. 

Athletics: Sports and clubs are in full swing this fall. Basketball season begins November 10, and Wrestling Club begins November 12. Students interested in wrestling maysign up online. DIAA sports physicals, dated after April 1, 2025, are required and due by October 31. Additional information, including tryouts and theAthletics Handbook, can be found on the ACHS Athletics website. Families needing after-school transportation should complete thetransportation surveyprovided.

Dress Down: Dollar Dress Down Days will continue throughout the school year, but only on designated days as noted in the school calendar. Students not in uniform on those days must pay $1. 

Student Drivers: Mr. Camacho, Dean of Students, reminds all student drivers that parking privileges are linked to attendance. Excessive unexcused lateness's may result in suspension of parking privileges. In such cases, students must return their permits directly to Mr. Camacho. Unauthorized or unregistered vehicles may be ticketed or towed at the owner’s expense. .
